I added too much to my plate

Don’t worry, this is already part of my menstrual cycle, the ups, and downs that happen every now and then.

On a desperate attempt to try to gain more YouTube members, I duplicated the amount of livestreams that members can participate in every month. Originally for the $50 membership you could show up in the channel once a month.

But with the new changes, for the $50 you would get 2 livestreams a month.

My original and founding CEO Rumen, who I’m really grateful for, had already been paying the $50 for a year. So I doubled his episodes from 12 to 24 for that year he had already paid and we’ve been catching up on those episodes, livestreaming once a week.

The experiment to get more paying members didn’t work the way I thought it would. I assumed that having a $25 membership would make at least 10 new people join, so that making these livestreams would make sense to me, financially.

But it turns out I was wrong, 2 new members joined. My man Techieman who joined for the $50 membership and my boy Cashmere for the $25 one. I’m not saying I’m not grateful for their support, of course I am, as I really don’t really make money out of YouTube and their memberships significantly support the channel. Even more than the joke of an amount I get from YouTube Ads revenue.

In summary, these changes added way more to my plate, without the financial return I thought they would bring, and if I continue this way I know I’ll just burn out. Getting there.

So I’ll move back to the original deal. The $50 membership gets 1 livestream a month. And I’ll include a new one, the $25 one gets 1 livestream every 2 months in the Root Access podcast. No $100 or any other higher paying memberships (for now)

I will keep a commitment of 1 livestream per month with Members. I don’t want to be tied to a schedule as my day job and life are already tight enough. I’ll keep doing my solo livestreams when I feel the desire to do so. Could be once every 2 months, could be once a week, once every couple of days, nobody knows, but there’s no pressure and schedule to get them done.

I understand that this is not what Ted and Cashmere originally signed up for, and I would 100% understand if they decide to cancel their memberships. Sorry guys, I have to protect myself.

I also want to thank all the other YouTube members that are part of the Discord Server. We’ll also keep having FurryConf every once in a while. Well… I renamed it to Open Terminal because people think that we’re actually furries and tend to skip those videos.

P.S. To give something back to my loyal members, and toss their salads a little bit, I’ll accept to have 1 guest once every month. Members will have to agree on which guest they want to have on that session. There’s cheap people out there, like the professor, that will not pay for memberships, but want to brag about their Emacs workflow in the channel. Ugh, Emacs users.
